The Next Chapter: A New Look And A Commitment To Improvement At Sidekick
“Small Changes, Over Time”
If you’ve been working with me/Sidekick over the years, you’ve likely noticed quite a few changes to our look over the years.
The importance of a strong, well-aligned logo and other visual elements of an overall differentiation strategy can’t go understated – each new look often defines a new chapter or evolution of a small business.
If you’ve run a small business you know that a logo alone won’t go very far — a logo won’t answer the phone, provide support, move projects along, or do any of the important administrative work that keeps business operating successfully.
What it can do, however is provide a focal point for memories of those activities – for you, for your staff and most importantly, for your clients/customers — a part of being remembered when it matters most.
Why The Change/Update?
As things improve internally in a small business, so too, should the visual aspects and outward appearance reflect those improvements.
Despite being in business for 10 years (and now personally 17 years in the marketing industry) there isn’t a day, week, month or quarter that goes by that I don’t see areas that can be improved.
In the early days of Sidekick, much of the focus was improving my clients (as is often the case in our world) so the attention on Sidekick’s outward appearance often was often lower on the priority list. This meant that those things evolved a little more slowly — an easy sacrifice as our clients (and their needs) are always at the top of our list.
As internal systems improved over the years, so to did our visual branding – with our latest update in early 2025 (which you’ll still see hints of around the web).
While I love that era of Sidekick – most notably a return to my regular blog updates – this latest change will be one that is aligned with some fantastic new internal improvements (if you’re a current client you likely are aware of these).
Human Crafted Updates
In the age of AI & LLMs they’re being used for literally everything in the digital world — while the potential to improve many areas is apparent, design and creative matters – I believe – should remain human driven.
There are many reasons for this (some more important than others), but ultimately humans remain at the core of any business — the services, products and other offers are created for the humans that need those services and products.
This chapter, like every other chapter in Sidekick’s evolution — is driven by human crafted work, including this latest brand refresh.
Commitment To Improving
Our mantra of “small changes over time” – expressed through the delta (δ) symbology, remains as the core element of our new look.
Small changes and improvements, when applied (and repeated) over time accumulate in ways that are hard to see from day-to-day.
This new look, while seemingly sudden has actually been brewing in the background for some time — what you’re seeing is many months of consideration.
It’s part of our larger commitment to continuously improving – not improvement for improvement’s sake, but improvement that’s aligned with improving our services and, in turn, the small businesses we work with.
Not one business on the planet can say “we’re perfect” – including in the small business world.
Perfection is direction, not the destination – in striving for it – through continuous improvement, we anchor our directional changes.
This new look will help us reinforce that tone through 2026 and beyond – as always, any feedback is most welcome ( email me directly at daniel@mysmallbusinesssidekick.com ).
We look forward to what’s next for Sidekick and for the small businesses we’re fortunate to work with.
